Lillie was born in the Seychelles and grew up on the paradise islands, with childhood visits to her grandparents’ home in India. Her grandmother kept a dressing table whose drawer held perfumes her grandfather had chosen for her over years, each one a quiet love letter. That drawer, the open warmth of the house, and a garden of roses, magnolia and the pomegranate her grandmother cut at the table, formed Lillie’s earliest sensory vocabulary. It is a vocabulary that runs through everything Told London makes.
Chris grew up in Northern Ireland. After his first degree, before meeting Lillie, he spent six months travelling through India and South East Asia. That long, slow trip set a habit of curiosity about place: how a courtyard smells in the heat, how a meal tastes after a morning of walking, how an unfamiliar city teaches you something you did not know you needed.
