Told London Affiliate Programme Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 20 March 2024

1. General Overview

Welcome to the Told London Affiliate Programme. By joining our programme via Awin, Shopify Collabs, Skimlinks, or any other approved network, affiliates agree to promote Told London's luxury home fragrances, including candles, diffusers, and refills, in compliance with the terms outlined below.

1.1. Eligibility & Approval

  • Affiliates must operate a legitimate website, blog, or social media presence that aligns with Told London’s brand values (luxury, sustainability, home décor, and fine fragrance).

  • Told London reserves the right to approve or reject applications at its discretion. Affiliates promoting inappropriate content (e.g., illegal, offensive, or unethical material) will be removed.

  • Affiliates must comply with the policies of the respective affiliate network, including but not limited to Awin’s policies, Shopify Collabs guidelines, ASA (UK) regulations, GDPR, and other relevant advertising laws.

1.2. Commission Structure

  • Base commission: 10% per sale generated via the affiliate’s unique tracking link.

  • Performance-based increases: Higher commission tiers may be offered based on sales volume and engagement.

  • Referral tracking: Transactions must be completed within the cookie duration window (as specified by each affiliate network) for commissions to be valid.

2. Promotional Guidelines

2.1. Approved Promotion Methods

Affiliates may promote Told London via:

  • Blogs and editorial websites

  • Social media content

  • Email marketing (pre-approval required)

  • Search marketing (subject to Section 5 - PPC & Paid Advertising Policy)

2.2. Discount Codes & Promotions

  • Affiliates may only share discount codes issued directly by Told London through the affiliate network where they are enrolled.

  • Unauthorised coupon codes will result in commission cancellation.

2.3. PPC Restrictions

  • Brand bidding is strictly prohibited.

  • Affiliates may not use “Told London” in paid search ad titles, descriptions, or display URLs.

  • Google Shopping Ads (CSS) may only be run by pre-approved partners (see Section 5 - PPC & Paid Advertising Policy below).

3. Payout & Commission Validation

  • Validation period: Commissions are reviewed within 30 days of the transaction to account for returns and fraudulent activity.

  • Payment processing: Commissions are paid according to the standard payout schedules of the respective affiliate network where the transaction was tracked.

4. Branding Guidelines

To maintain a consistent and premium brand presence, affiliates must adhere to these branding rules:

4.1. Brand Name & Tone

  • Always refer to the brand as Told London (never abbreviate or modify).

  • Our tone is elegant, evocative, and refined—avoiding excessive sales-driven language.

4.2. Approved Visuals & Messaging

  • Affiliates may use official Told London images provided via their affiliate network or approved directly.

  • Custom photography is encouraged but must align with our luxury aesthetic.

  • The Told London logo must not be modified or overlaid with text.

4.3. Key Brand Themes

Affiliates should highlight:

  • Luxury Home Fragrance – Refinement and exceptional quality.

  • Storytelling Through Scent – Scents that evoke emotions and memories.

  • Artistry & Excellence – Thoughtfully crafted, fine fragrance-inspired home scents.

  • Sustainability – Refillable, ethically crafted porcelain vessels.

5. PPC & Paid Advertising Policy

Affiliates may engage in PPC advertising under the following conditions:

  • Brand name bidding is not allowed (e.g., “Told London candles”).

  • Direct linking to ToldLondon.com is not allowed unless pre-approved.

  • Google Shopping Ads (CSS) are restricted to approved partners only.

  • Affiliates may bid on non-brand keywords such as:

    • “Luxury home fragrance”

    • “Best scented candles”

    • “Premium diffusers”

Unauthorised PPC activity will result in commission cancellation and possible removal from the programme.

6. Affiliate Transactions & Commission Eligibility

6.1. Commissionable Transaction Value

Commission is based on the net transaction value, excluding:

  • VAT or sales tax

  • Delivery charges

  • Credit card fees

  • Gift wrapping and other service charges

6.2. Excluded Transactions

Commissions will not be paid for:

  • Cancelled orders

  • Returned items

  • Breach of programme terms (e.g., unauthorised PPC or discount misuse)

  • Duplicate orders

  • Fraudulent or self-referral transactions

7. Publisher Policy

7.1. Approved Publisher Types

  • Content Publishers (Luxury, home interiors, fragrance blogs)

  • Influencers and Bloggers (Organic and SEO-driven content)

  • Pre-Approved Email Marketers

  • PPC Affiliates (Non-brand bidding only)

7.2. Restricted & Prohibited Publisher Types

  • Cashback and loyalty sites

  • Behavioural retargeting and media brokers

  • Unauthorised discount code sites

  • Adult, gambling, or age-restricted content

Affiliates violating these restrictions will be removed from the programme.

8. De-Duplication Policy

8.1. What is De-Duplication?

To prevent duplicate commission payouts, Told London de-duplicates sales across multiple affiliate networks, including:

  • Awin (primary network)

  • Shopify Collabs (influencer partnerships)

  • Skimlinks (content-based affiliate links)

  • Other third-party networks (where applicable)

8.2. How We Attribute Commission

  • First-Click Model: Commission is awarded to the first affiliate network the customer clicked before completing the purchase.

  • Exception: Direct partnerships (e.g., exclusive influencer campaigns) may override standard tracking rules.

8.3. Transactions Not Eligible for Commission

  • Orders tracked on multiple platforms (only one network receives commission).

  • Orders flagged as fraudulent, cancelled, or refunded.

  • Misuse of discount codes or unauthorised PPC activity.

Affiliates can check commission status or dispute de-duplication issues by contacting affiliates@toldlondon.com.

9. Compliance, Enforcement, and Termination

  • Affiliates who violate any terms may have commissions declined and face removal from the programme across all affiliate platforms, including Awin, Shopify Collabs, Skimlinks, or any future networks where Told London participates.

  • Told London reserves the right to update these policies at any time and will communicate changes through the relevant affiliate network notifications, programme updates, or direct communication methods as applicable.
